JOE COFFEY EXCLUSIVE: the origins of NXT UK’s Gallus stable revealed

Tonight in Blackpool, NXT UK runs their first-ever TakeOver event and with the talent on the card, expectations are sky-high.

Right at the top of the card, NXT UK champion Pete Dunne puts his title on the line against Gallus leader and Iron King, Joe Coffey.

Pete Dunne Vs Joe Coffey for the NXT UK title

The Scot is a former two-time ICW champion and with his Gallus stable -consisting of his brother Mark and Wolfgang – behind him, a title change could be in the air.

Gallus has really come into their own in recent weeks and are one of the hottest units in the industry. TalkSPORT spoke to Coffey on the morning of NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool and the 30-year-old revealed the origins of the group.

“I think everyone has had their ideas and stuff like that, but it seems such a natural fit with myself and Mark being brothers and we’ve known Wolfgang for a long time so we mesh and gel well together. It’s three big, imposing guys and the word Gallus is a Glaswegian word – where I’m from – it means bold and cocky. And for us, fortune favours the bold and that’s exactly what we make Gallus, we make it our own – and I’m going to show exactly why tonight.”

Joe Coffey celebrating another victory

Champion Dunne has been reigning as the face of NXT UK for over 600 days now, but this is undoubtedly his sternest test to date. We asked Coffey why he is the man to break such a long title reign and prosper where everyone else has failed.

“You see, to me, numbers are just numbers. He might not have faced anyone like me before, that’s the thing. I proclaimed that this is my kingdom and that’s exactly what tonight is going to be all about. That WWE championship that drapes from Pete Dunne’s mouth that tightly hanging on to his teeth and his gumshield, I’m going to rip it from his mouth, take his gumshield and maybe a few of his teeth with it.

And then tonight, there’s going to be a changing of the guard – there’s simply going to be a new king. I am the Iron King, I’m Joe Coffey and tonight, this becomes my kingdom.”

Coffey has been one of the top stars to really find his stride in recent weeks and fans are guaranteed a barnstorming affair when he clashes with Dunne tonight.
