NYSC Celebrates Doctors Who Saved Corps Member

NYSC LogoThe Lagos state National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has honored two of its members who are medical doctors deployed to serve in the batch c stream 11 which completed its orientation program on Wednesday.
According to the Nation News, the medical doctors were celebrated for going beyond the call of duty by saving a corps member who had health crises.
In his speech at the closing ceremony held a Iyana Ipaja camp, the Lagos state NYSC Coodinator, Mohammad Momoh narrated how Onyedikachi Anya and Olawale Ogedengbe volunteered to accompany a corps member who had crises to the hospital and ended up saving his life when he stopped breathing.
“I want to specially commend the two corps medical doctors, Onyedikachi and Olawale, whose selfless and timely intervention saved the life of their fellow member who was being rushed to the hospital in our ambulance. They voluntarily took up this assignment despite the fact that they were not on duty at the time of the incidence,” he said.
Momoh said, on the way to the hospital in Agege, the patient had a seizure and his heart stopped working. He was revived by Anya and Olawale.
Both doctors got letters of commendation and cash gifts while the coordinator also said they could win state/national awards at the end of their service year if they meet other conditions.
